“Eternity is given through grace and TRUTH”. Are you a student of God’s Word?

Colossians 2:1-5 NLT
[1] I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally. [2] I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself. [3] In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. [4] I am telling you this so no one will deceive you with well-crafted arguments. [5] For though I am far away from you, my heart is with you. And I rejoice that you are living as you should and that your faith in Christ is strong.

Laodicea was located a few miles northwest of Colosse. Like the church at Colosse, the Laodicean church was probably founded by one of Paul’s converts while Paul was staying in Ephesus (Acts 19:10). The city was a wealthy center of trade and commerce, but later Christ would criticize the believers at Laodicea for their lukewarm commitment (Revelation 3:14-22). The fact that Paul wanted this letter to be passed on to the Laodicean church (4:16) indicates that false teaching may have spread there as well. Paul was counting on ties of love to bring the churches together to stand against this heresy and to encourage each other to remain true to God’s plan of salvation in Christ. Our churches should be encouraging, unified communities, committed to carrying out Christ’s work.

Revelation 12:7-9,12 NLT
[7] Then there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon and his angels. [8] And the dragon lost the battle, and he and his angels were forced out of heaven. [9] This great dragon-the ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, the one deceiving the whole world-was thrown down to the earth with all his angels. [12] Therefore, rejoice, O heavens! And you who live in the heavens, rejoice! But terror will come on the earth and the sea, for the devil has come down to you in great anger, knowing that he has little time.”

Satan’s whole mission is to lead Disciples of Jesus astray from the truth. Today our would is saturated with churches teaching false truth and deceiving people into believing they are are saved when aren’t! “We all sin and fall short” (Romans 3:23). We are saved by grace, but we are also saved through truth. The two go together.

John 1:14 NIV
[14] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Do you know what the Church leadership believes and teaches in your church? Do you examine the Bible to see if what the minister is preaching is true?

Acts 17:10-11 NIV
[10] As soon as it was night, the believers sent Paul and Silas away to Berea. On arriving there, they went to the Jewish synagogue. [11] Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

We each need to make sure we are following the truth. We will be judged by His Word. If a church teaches “infant baptism”or “pray Jesus into your heart”to be saved, it is leading you astray. Before you start getting defensive, if you were deceived in one of those ways, be willing to find the answers in your Bible.

Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
[18] Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Acts 2:38-39 NIV
[38] Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. [39] The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

John 12:48 NIV
[48] There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.

The Word of God we be our judge on the last Day. Have you verified from the Bible everything you were taught to believe?

2 Timothy 3:12,14-17 NIV
[12] In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, [14] But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, [15] and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. [16] All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, [17] so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Eternity is a long time🙏🏻🙏🏾🎚. Don’t buy a counterfeit truth!

Proverbs 23:23 NIV
[23] Buy the truth and do not sell it—wisdom, instruction and insight as well.

Heaven-bound,
Chris C
