The Campus Ministry in Orlando

“Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you the truth, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” John 4:35
The hot days and slightly cooler evenings, the green leaves, the flowers are blooming, the smell of fresh cut grass, a daily summer shower and students staying in town to crank out those precious hours in a summer class! That is Orlando in the summer at UCF, Valencia, Seminole State and Rollins College. What an exciting summer we have ahead of us as we see a plentiful harvest in view. Jesus’ words here are most appropriate because the summer semester is RIGHT NOW and not four months later. If we would but just open our eyes and look we will see by faith the ripe fields of these four campuses. With thousands of students striving to get ahead for their classes in the fall, these days promise to be the most fruitful in the short history of the work here. In Luke 10:2 Jesus promises a plentiful harvest as long as there are workers to harvest these ripe fields. Will you be a fired up and zealous summer harvester? Let us pray daily for our eyes to be open and for the Lord to direct us to the souls who are searching intently for him and let us not hear the haunting words of Jeremiah 8:20, “The harvest has past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved.” But rather let us imitate the seventy-two who in Luke 10:17 who returned with joy and said, “Lord, eve the demons submit to us in your name.” This so inspired Jesus the Bible says, At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. Jesus was so proud of his small band of brothers and the work they had started for the salvation of the world!
He stoops down to make us great,
